Carrara “B” | Honed

Carrara marble, like all types of marble, is a metamorphic rock that formed over millions of years through a series of natural geological processes. The story of Carrara marble begins with the deposition of limestone sediments on the ocean floor during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, approximately 190 to 50 million years ago. Over time, these sediments were subjected to immense heat and pressure from tectonic movements within the Earth’s crust. This process, known as metamorphism, caused the limestone to recrystallize and undergo chemical changes, transforming it into marble. In the case of Carrara marble, specific geological events, including the collision of tectonic plates and the uplift of the Apuan Alps, played a crucial role in its formation. These forces caused the limestone to be uplifted and exposed to the surface, where it could be quarried and extracted. The unique combination of minerals present in the original limestone, coupled with the intense pressure and heat of metamorphism, contributed to the distinctive white color and fine texture that characterize Carrara marble. Carrara “B”, is a mosaic tile that is crafted from hand-cut 22x145mm Carrara tiles, each sheet offers precise and easy installation, enhancing any space with the classic beauty of Carrara marble.
